PulauPulau

PulauPulau or, basically, ‘Islands’, was initially inspired by a local sailing community called 'Let's Go Sailing’ (Ayo Berlayar) founded in 2012 by Ahmad Fikri Assegaf, Nino Krisnan, and Indi Soemardjan.

PulauPulau was conceived around a growing enthusiasm percolating in a cross-section of Jakarta’s metropolitan society to preserve the culture of sailing and restore the resilience of Indonesia as a maritime nation-state.

PulauPulau are trying to make people aware, especially Indonesia’s younger generation, to embrace a more vibrant interaction with the ocean, so that a love for the sea grows, and we are motivated and willing to protect it from the threat of climate change and environmental damage.

PulauPulau realises that time is of an essence and with Indonesia's potential as the largest archipelagic country in the world with more than 17,000 islands, we need to get to know our ocean and marine life a lot better and in turn protect it for future generations.
